About the role
The Ministry Pilot position at Samaritan's Purse involves operating ministry-owned aircraft to transport life-saving cargo in response to international disasters. This role requires a minimum of 5,000 flight hours with 1,000 hours in the B757/B767 series aircraft, along with a current B757/B767 type rating.
Responsibilities
- Maintain personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him.
- Perform pilot duties as needed or assigned.
- Must be able to perform Pilot in Command (PIC) and/or Second in Command (SIC) duties as required in assigned ministry aircraft.
- Plan domestic and/or complex international trips with the assistance of an international trip planning service.
- Perform pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks to ensure safe flight operations.
- Maintain expert knowledge of assigned aircraft, Approved Flight Manual (AFM), aviation regulations, policies and procedures to ensure the highest level of readiness and professional skill as a pilot.
- Complete flight logs in a timely manner; maintain electronic charts, databases, iPads, documents, etc. in current and orderly manner.
- Work with Samaritan's Purse mechanics and contracted maintenance personnel to identify and resolve any maintenance discrepancies.
- Maintain the aircraft in a clean and organized fashion when at home and away from base.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or five (5) to ten (10) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must maintain appropriate type ratings and meet both the minimum total flight hours, and minimum flight hours in type requirements.
- Current or recent flight hours in type required. Minimum of 5,000 flight hours with 1,000 hours in B757/B767 series aircraft required.
- Current B757/767 type rating required.
- Recent international flight experience in B757/767 required.
- FAA Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with the appropriate AMEL rating.
- Valid FAA First Class Aviation Medical Certificate, FCC Restricted Radio Permit, current U.S. Passport.
- Currency must be maintained in all assigned aircraft as provided by the ministry.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel), and general computer applications required.
- 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies required; if not already completed, opportunity to meet and complete requirement is available upon hire.
