Under the supervision and support of the Pastor, the Minister of Youth and Children will lead the church’s ministries of youth and children with the goal of equipping families to grow in Christ-likeness.
Qualifications
- Meets the qualifications of pastor listed in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9
- Agrees with LBC’s Statement of Faith and By-laws
- Becomes a member of LBC within the first month of employment
- Demonstrates sufficient passion, gifts, education, and experience to fulfill the responsibilities of the role

- Dedicated to the ministry of the Word and prayer, growing in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ
- Lives an exemplary and godly life in private and public, embracing biblical principles and ethical integrity
- Manages home and finances well, avoiding excessive debt
- If married, loves his wife as Christ loves the church and partners with her to raise children to love and obey the Lord
- Keeps his life free from sexual immorality in thought and deed, avoiding even the appearance of evil
- Maintains harmonious and respectful relationships with staff, deacons, volunteers, and congregation members
- Trustworthy with confidential matters, sharing only what is necessary for spiritual and physical welfare
- Shares in the general burden of church leadership as needed
- Stays current with cultural trends and resources relevant to ministering to the next generation
- Maintains a healthy work-life balance for physical and spiritual well-being
Responsibilities
Youth Ministry
- Oversees Sunday school, discipling groups, weekly activities, outreach, retreats, mission trips, and special programs
- May serve as the lead teacher in the youth Sunday school class
- Develops Christ-like relationships with youth
- Leads youth to grow in their relationship with God through Bible study and mentoring
- Serves as a resource for young people in their developmental needs
- Equips parents to develop godly relationships and parenting skills with their teenagers
- Collaborates with the Pastor, Youth Team, and volunteers to plan and coordinate youth activities
Children’s Ministry
- Provides administrative oversight of Sunday school, weekly activities, and special programs (VBS and Good News Club)
- Works with parents to develop godly parenting skills and help children grow in Christ’s likeness
- Recruits, trains, background checks, and develops children’s ministry volunteers
- Oversees the selection of children’s curriculum to ensure proper scope and sequence
- Hosts parenting seminars on various topics to support parents
Church-Wide Ministry
- Supports the vision, mission, strategy, and initiatives of LBC
- Contributes God-given gifts, passions, and discernment to shape LBC’s vision and mission
- Assists with occasional preaching, teaching, leadership development, and other pastoral responsibilities as needed
Pay
$45,000–$50,000 plus benefits.
