About the Role
A motivated Engineer is sought to provide hands-on metallurgical and process engineering support to production teams by optimizing process performance, improving plant efficiency, and ensuring safe and sustainable processing practices. The role involves evaluating problems, coordinating metallurgical/process test work, and providing solutions and feedback to operational personnel and management.
Responsibilities
- Provide process engineering support to mining and mineral separation operations, emphasizing wet gravity separation and dry electrostatic and magnetic separations to ensure efficient and safe mineral processing.
- Monitor daily production data and quality parameters to identify adverse conditions or trends and suggest remedial actions.
- Collaborate with Site Managers and Plant Personnel to keep stakeholders informed about plant performance and processing requirements.
- Monitor and review plant performance to identify opportunities for improvement, including separation equipment setting changes, projects, and training programs.
- Conduct process audits, surveys, and performance evaluations.
- Optimize plant systems, including materials handling, water balance, and physical separation equipment/circuits (magnetic, electrostatic, gravity/density).
- Contribute to plant design modifications and process improvements.
- Promote safe work practices among employees and contractors.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mineral Processing, or related fields.
- Experience in mineral sands or industrial mineral mining, or heavy industry processing environments (preferred).
- Strong understanding of mineral processing principles and plant operations.
- Experience with process optimization and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and influence outcomes.
- Knowledge of safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
