Responsibilities
- Foster a strong safety culture and continue to make the mine and mill safer environments to work.
- Oversight of department safety initiatives, including MSHA compliance.
- Develop formidable relationships with internal departments including production, distribution, CI, quality and human resources.
- Coach and develop workforce potential and foster morale.
- Proactively develop and implement strategies to meet plant rock and stucco production requirements over the short and long term.
- Establish, monitor and maintain the mobile equipment fleet.
- Effectively manage the facility planning process and execute capital projects and mobile equipment purchases.
Qualifications
- Mine or Quarry background with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. (Mining/Geological preferred.)
- Prior experience as a department manager is a plus but not required.
- Previous work experience in a mine preferred.
- Strong leadership aptitude, decision making and people handling skills to manage and develop others in a diverse workforce environment.
- Capacity to engage employees and effectively build rapport.
- Demonstrated organizational skills with strong communication capacity (verbal and written) with ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
- In depth knowledge of safety compliance programs, including MSHA.
- Adept at problem solving, decision making and strategic planning.
- Track record implementing continuous improvements.
Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
