About the role

The Mine Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating various heavy equipment (mainly bulldozers and excavators) used in construction, maintenance, and excavation projects. Key roles and responsibilities include:

  • Operating heavy equipment of various sizes and weights used in excavation and site construction.
  • Following company safety procedures.
  • Briefing foremen, superintendents, safety directors, or HR managers on problems.
  • Cleaning and performing routine inspections and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment; referring defects or needed repairs to supervisors.
  • Knowing moisture conditions, cut grades, and loading trucks.
  • Understanding cutting and filling grades.
  • Possessing knowledge of GPS (preferred).

Requirements

Qualifications for this position include:

  • At least 3-5 years recent experience in construction as a heavy equipment operator.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and attention to detail skills.
  • Strong time management and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Able to prioritize tasks and delegate effectively.
  • A friendly and professional demeanor.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
  • Excavator experience, required.
  • Dozer experience, required.
  • Roller experience, preferred.
  • Motor Grader experience, preferred.
  • Articulated Truck experience, preferred.

Qualifications

Essential duties and qualifications include:

  • Bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, stooping, squatting, pulling, pushing, climbing, crouching, crawling, talking, hearing, seeing, and standing for long periods of time.
  • Moderate to heavy lifting and carrying.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting on forklifts or other warehouse equipment.
  • Exposure to moderate noise levels, vibrations, bright lights, dust, fumes, gases, and all climate types including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, etc.
  • Ability to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, breathing protection, and hard hats when needed.
  • Able to react quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
  • Must be able to move and lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Able to work under stressful conditions at times.
  • Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
  • Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
  • Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
