About the role
SSR Mining's Summer Internship Program is designed for highly motivated students currently enrolled in a full-time, accredited, four-year college or university in North America. Interns gain hands-on experience in their field of study while working alongside industry professionals. The Mine Engineer Intern will support the Technical Services team at the Cripple Creek & Victor Mine, contributing to various technical projects and gaining exposure to real-world mine engineering in an open-pit gold mining environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist with and contribute to small-to-medium-sized engineering projects aligned with department goals.
- Perform technical research and analysis; compile findings and draw meaningful conclusions.
- Prepare, summarize, and present performance metrics and technical reports as required.
- Support day-to-day activities of the Technical Services department and perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mine Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program, with an expected graduation date of December 2026 or later.
- Understanding of basic engineering principles and practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong commitment to safety and customer service.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have valid work authorization to work in the United States for the duration of the internship.
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to open-pit, hard rock mining operations.
- Familiarity with Hexagon MineSight and AutoCAD.
- Exposure to Dispatch Fleet Management Systems.
- Solid organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
