Requirements
- Relevant technical designation from an accredited institution (or equivalent education and/or field experience)
- Heavy industrial steel mill experience is preferred
- Ability to interpret technical information in written and diagrammatic forms
- Strong math skills
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively
- Solid understanding of contract language
- Construction experience is preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
Responsibilities
- Calculate and estimate the expected cost of construction projects
- Prepare competitive bids through cost review and analysis
- Provide accurate estimates based on detailed analysis of all cost information
- Support successful project completion through collaboration and input
- Perform duties overlapping with project management responsibilities
- Estimate and manage millwright, mechanical, and rigging projects (including machinery assembly, erection, relocation, dismantling, and full process line/plant moves)
- Perform structural steel material take-offs and labor estimating
- Manage job costing and construction accounting with financial oversight of projects
- Assemble RFQ packages for fabricators and subcontractors
- Read, understand, and manage bid and construction documents, including P&IDs, ISO's, technical specs, and contract documents
- Apply rigging knowledge, including cranes, hydraulic gantries, lift trucks, jack-and-slide systems, and specialized rigging methods
- Utilize millwright knowledge for layout, machine installation, assembly/disassembly, leveling, and alignment
