Requirements

  • Relevant technical designation from an accredited institution (or equivalent education and/or field experience)
  • Heavy industrial steel mill experience is preferred
  • Ability to interpret technical information in written and diagrammatic forms
  • Strong math skills
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Solid understanding of contract language
  • Construction experience is preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word

Responsibilities

  • Calculate and estimate the expected cost of construction projects
  • Prepare competitive bids through cost review and analysis
  • Provide accurate estimates based on detailed analysis of all cost information
  • Support successful project completion through collaboration and input
  • Perform duties overlapping with project management responsibilities
  • Estimate and manage millwright, mechanical, and rigging projects (including machinery assembly, erection, relocation, dismantling, and full process line/plant moves)
  • Perform structural steel material take-offs and labor estimating
  • Manage job costing and construction accounting with financial oversight of projects
  • Assemble RFQ packages for fabricators and subcontractors
  • Read, understand, and manage bid and construction documents, including P&IDs, ISO's, technical specs, and contract documents
  • Apply rigging knowledge, including cranes, hydraulic gantries, lift trucks, jack-and-slide systems, and specialized rigging methods
  • Utilize millwright knowledge for layout, machine installation, assembly/disassembly, leveling, and alignment
