Mill Equipment Operator - Rotating Night Shift - Immediate Hire!
Mill Equipment Operator Description
Responsible for operating and adjusting 3 pellet mills.
Performing QC testing of finished pellets.
Testing of incoming raw material and mix moisture content.
Roll changes on pellet mills using overhead hoist.
Mill Equipment Operator Inspections and Maintenance
- Aid the dryer operator in maintaining pellet moisture between 4-4.5% moisture content by providing feedback.
- Measure and record Durability, volume of fines, pellet diameter, and perform soak tests on finished pellets.
- Continuously monitor for problems, troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, spot fires, and hot bearings.
- Control pellet mill feed rates and adjust or change pellet mill rolls/dies as needed.
- Keep the work area clean by clearing piles of sawdust around the mill room.
- Conduct ash tests on mix and finished pellets and communicate results to the dryer operator.
- Monitor silo volumes and report to the dryer operator.
Mill Equipment Operator Communication and Teamwork
- Support the Packaging, Loader, and dryer Operators on the shift.
- Collect and verify shift operator reports, ensuring paperwork is complete and accurate.
- Report and monitor incidents, accidents, and maintenance requests.
- Lead by example with exemplary attendance, work ethic, positive attitude, professionalism, and a safety-first mentality.
- Participate in down day repairs and cleaning of the process.
- Perform other duties as required.
Mill Equipment Operator Qualifications/Education
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English.
- Working knowledge of all aspects of the production process.
- Technical and analytical skills.
- Must pass company forklift certification.
- Ability to lift up to 80 lbs safely, stand for up to 12 hours per day.
- Ability to use catwalks and climb ladders up to 30 feet high.
- Skills to solve pellet mill maintenance problems.
- Ability to do simple to basic math calculations.
- Experience working in a high temperature/humidity area.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
