Milieu Specialist - Evenings

About the role

The Milieu Specialist works under the direct supervision of the CNO and Nurse Manager in conjunction with the Milieu Manager. They promote a therapeutic environment and participate in the total program according to the hospital's philosophy, goals, and function.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe and therapeutic milieu
• Support with admission and discharges
• Facilitate MHT groups
• Precept new MHTs, MHT II, and train current MHTs and MHT II’s
• Resolve conflict among peer staff
• Attend all staffing and preceptor meetings

Requirements

• High School Degree or equivalent preferred
• Accredited college or university degree in social work, recreational therapy, psychology, human services, or appropriate therapeutic discipline preferred
• 3+ years of related experience, with a knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness

• Punctuality, dependability, and effective time management
• Clear, respectful, and effective communication with patients, families, and colleagues
• Active listening and constructive feedback skills

Pay

$24.00 to $29.00 per hour

Schedule

Monday-Friday 3pm-11:30pm with weekend rotation

Shift differential available
