The Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland, Inc. (PBRC) is seeking a highly motivated, organized, and bright attorney fluent in Spanish to join the Maryland Immigrant Legal Assistance Project. This role focuses on increasing access to immigration legal services for individuals who are detained or at risk of detention due to ICE check-ins.
Responsibilities
- Develop materials, workflows, and client resources for detention prevention services.
- Provide immigration legal services to individuals detained in Maryland, primarily at the Baltimore Hold Room.
- Collaborate with the Project Paralegal to staff detention prevention legal clinics, assisting with intake, client paperwork, client flow management, and volunteer support.
- Track and summarize data related to clients served at clinics and communicate regularly with the Project Director.
- Provide pro se legal assistance to unrepresented respondents.
- Assist in developing new materials to expand services as the program grows.
- Maintain and develop a network of community partners in coordination with the Project Director.
- Attend weekly project staff meetings to coordinate services across clinics.
- Participate in partner meetings and provide education to other organizations involved in legal services or outreach.
- Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support the Project’s mission of statewide recruitment and coordination of pro bono immigration legal services.
Requirements
- Fluency in Spanish is required.
- Admission to practice before at least one state bar.
- Two years of experience representing detained immigrants in removal proceedings preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well with diverse groups, including staff, volunteers, clients, and public interest partners.
- Strong commitment to community service and ensuring equal access to justice.
- Ready access to transportation for travel to downtown Baltimore and potentially other areas in Maryland where individuals are detained by ICE.

- Competitive salary ranging from $85,000 - $92,500, depending on experience.
