Migration & Modernization Tech BDM – US SLG/EDU, WWPS Migrations
About the role
Join the Amazon Web Services (AWS) World Wide Public Sector (WWPS) Migration team working with US State, Local Government, and Education (SLG/EDU) Customers and Partners who are migrating and modernizing workloads to AWS. In this role, you will drive customer and partner engagement for migrating and modernizing existing workloads to AWS, including helping customers unlock new capabilities through 1-Step AI Modernization.
You will shape engagements with US SLG/EDU organizations through the delivery of the Migration Acceleration Program and other programs. You will engage customers and partners while working with AWS field teams to develop large cloud migration and modernization engagements, including AI modernization use cases that unlock new capabilities and accelerate innovation on AWS.
You must effectively articulate the business opportunity for migration and modernization, navigate tooling and methodologies that reduce risk, and accelerate customer outcomes. You will identify use cases, patterns, and best practices across engagements to inform and develop go-to-market motions that scale migrations with partners and field teams. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional global teams, including sales, business development, solutions architecture, partner sales, professional services, compliance, product, and sales operations.
The ideal candidate will bring both technical delivery and business development skills, with experience working with government and/or enterprise customers on large-scale cloud migration and modernization projects. As AI workloads become increasingly part of engagement scope, the candidate should demonstrate awareness of how these workloads fit within migration and modernization strategies and a commitment to building expertise in this area.
Responsibilities
- Meet regularly with customer application owners and development teams to determine workload development/transition status, identify and remove blockers, and develop plans for migration and modernization, including AI-driven workload transformation and 1-Step AI Modernization pathways.

- Identify opportunities to build compelling proposals to help customers achieve business value from migrations, including AI modernization use cases that unlock new capabilities and accelerate innovation on AWS.
- Provide the path forward for customers to build migration plans and business cases, ensuring clarity on AWS’s value proposition as they move their workloads to AWS.
- Collaborate with technical and industry teams to drive consistent outcomes for customers across engagements.
- Build and develop mechanisms to automate and scale the migration and modernization business across the SLG/EDU vertical utilizing AI and agentic tools.
- Capture results and improvement opportunities, and periodically present progress to executive leadership.
- Conduct customer briefings, present at customer events, and further AWS thought leadership in the IT transformation domain.
