MIG Welder & Fabricator

About the role

The MIG Welder and Fabricator will weld thick steel plates using pulse welding techniques and fabricate steel parts according to blueprints. This position involves operating an overhead crane, sit-down and stand-up forklifts, and the shot blast machine for paint preparation. Duties include passing the AWS D1.1: 2020 Welder Test, understanding and setting up weld machines, reading blueprints, and training other employees.

Responsibilities

• Pass AWS D1.1: 2020 Welder Test
• Must know metric measurement
• Understand and perform weld machine setup
• Understand and read blueprints
• Perform all Essential Functions of a Heavy Plate Structural Welder
• Weld press brake side plates, lower beams, and upper frames together to prepare for painting
• Train other employees on the tasks of a “Welding Apprentice”
• Maintain tools, equipment, and workspace
• Keep management informed of status, issues, etc.
• Manage standard times and available resources
• Comply with all established workplace policies and procedures
• Wear all required PPE at all times
• Keep workstation clean and organized
• Able to not cause rework by making self-inflicted mistakes

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Experience working in manufacturing and production preferred
• Experience driving a forklift and using measuring tools preferred
• ISO and SAP experience a plus
• Previous Lead Person experience a plus

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Mathematical skills including tape measure down to the 1/32
• Reasoning and problem-solving skills
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
• Ability to design custom reports as requested

$20.00 to $28.00

Schedule

This position offers two schedule options:

• Monday through Thursday, 6:45 AM to 5:30 PM
• Monday through Thursday, 3:00 PM to 1:45 AM
