Midwife
About the role
We are looking for Band 5 and 6 Midwives to join our friendly and highly skilled workforce. We welcome applications from newly qualified and experienced midwives with a passion for delivering high-quality care. For all successful candidates, we provide a comprehensive support and training package, including orientations in all clinical areas and a preceptorship programme for newly qualified midwives, aligned to the National Preceptorship Framework standards (NHSE, 2023).
Newcastle Hospitals Maternity Services provide high-quality care to a diverse demographic of service users within the city and across the region. Situated within The Royal Victoria Infirmary, our maternity department is a centre of excellence offering a comprehensive range of services in acute, inpatient, outpatient, and community settings, facilitating 5,000 births per year. Our midwives gain diverse professional experiences, providing individualised care ranging from low-risk to highly complex cases throughout the childbirth continuum.
Our antenatal services include obstetric shared-care clinics, a Maternity Assessment Unit, a Day Care Unit, and an antenatal ward. In the intrapartum period, midwives provide one-to-one care in our integrated midwifery-led unit and shared-care obstetric unit. The RVI maternity unit features a 12-room integrated midwife-led birthing centre with five pool rooms, as well as a 14-room delivery suite with two obstetric theatres. Our postnatal services include a 34-bed postnatal ward and an 8-bed transitional care ward. Four community-based midwifery teams provide traditional community care, antenatal clinics, and parent education in partnership with allied health services.
