Middleware Platform Engineer

Key Responsibilities

  • Support, maintain, and optimize enterprise API gateway and middleware platforms in production environments.
  • Lead platform engineering, infrastructure administration, and operational support for middleware environments.
  • Deploy, install, configure, patch, and maintain middleware infrastructure across multiple environments.
  • Respond to production incidents, troubleshoot complex issues, and restore services to steady state.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation supporting critical production systems.
  • Provision and manage infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and automation tools (Ansible).
  • Execute production deployments, coordinate change management activities, and support release implementations.
  • Configure and manage AWS infrastructure, including EC2, S3, Security Groups, and API Gateway.
  • Monitor platform health and availability using CloudWatch, Dynatrace, Grafana, and Splunk.
  • Perform vulnerability remediation, security patching, and infrastructure maintenance to ensure a secure operating environment.
  • Conduct system integration testing and troubleshoot server, middleware, and platform issues.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend infrastructure technologies, software, and hardware improvements.
  • Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and operations teams to ensure platform stability and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in middleware platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, or systems administration.
  • Proven support experience with enterprise middleware or API gateway platforms in production.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure, including EC2, S3, and API Gateway; AWS GovCloud experience preferred.
  • Strong Terraform skills for infrastructure provisioning and configuration management.
  • Proficiency with Ansible for automation and configuration.
  • Experience administering middleware platforms such as MuleSoft Runtime or similar.
  • Support experience with API gateway technologies and middleware operations.
  • Strong incident response and production support background in medium to large enterprise environments.
  • Experience with deployment management, change coordination, and security group configuration.
  • Knowledge of vulnerability remediation practices.
  • Able to support multiple environments while maintaining high availability and system reliability.
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call support rotation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Supporting MuleSoft infrastructure and runtime environments.
  • Experience developing or deploying APIs.
  • Familiarity with MuleSoft API development and policy implementation.
  • Experience working in highly regulated enterprise environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
