Position Summary
The ideal candidate possesses a belief that all students are capable of learning and enjoys working with a strong grade-level team. Experience with co-teaching and inclusion practices, including collaborative planning, are recommended.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Serve as a strong, positive presence in the classroom-motivating students daily to engage, work hard, and grow academically
- Design and implement high-quality History curriculum aligned to Massachusetts and Common Core standards
- Set rigorous academic goals and provide targeted, actionable feedback to students on their progress
- Build a strong classroom culture and implement school-wide systems to maximize instructional time
- Use student data to drive instruction and ensure all students are making meaningful academic gains
- Engage in weekly professional development, coaching, and collaboration with colleagues
- Serve as an advisor to a small group of students, maintaining strong communication with families
- Take on additional duties as assigned by school administration

- Deep knowledge of historical content and pedagogy

- Proficiency in using data to inform and adapt instruction
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills

Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in History, Education, or a related field (required)
- Valid Massachusetts DESE History License (5-8 or 8-12) or eligibility (required)
- At least one year of urban teaching experience (preferred)
