Job Goals
The School Social Worker is a licensed mental health professional responsible for supporting the mental health, social-emotional development, and academic/behavioral success of all students within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework. School Social Workers are the link between the home, school and community. They provide direct as well as indirect services to students, families, and school personnel to promote and support students’ academic and social success.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Maine State Licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) preferred or Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW-Conditional Clinical).
- Valid State of Maine Department of Education Background Check (CHRC) authorization.
- Experience working with students with a range of disabilities.
- Thorough understanding of special education laws (IDEA), IEP process, assessment methods, and evidence-based therapy strategies.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Effective behavior management skills.
- Proficiency in using technology for instruction and record-keeping.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to the success of students with disabilities.
- Mandt trained or ability to obtain.
