About the Role

The Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD), the fourth-largest school district in California, is seeking a Teacher for a full-time or part-time assignment. Under the direction of a site principal or designee, this role involves planning, implementing, monitoring, and assessing a classroom instructional program across multiple subjects.

Essential Functions

• Plan, implement, monitor, and assess a classroom instructional program consistent with District and Board goals, local site goals, and student needs.
• Teach reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, health, physical education, and music using Board-adopted curriculum.
• Instruct pupils in citizenship and subject matter as specified in state law and district regulations.
• Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere; support and maintain district discipline policy and site discipline plan.
• Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff in assessing and helping students with health, emotional, social, and learning problems.
• Participate in curricular and extra-curricular programs, assessment and development activities, student supervision, and staff, parent, department, and District meetings.
• Communicate regularly with parents regarding instructional goals, student progress, needs, and special accomplishments.
• Develop and communicate curricular and instructional plans, including course descriptions and performance expectations, to students and parents.
• Assess student progress and communicate results to parents each grading period and for unsatisfactory work or instructional issues.
• Represent the District and assigned school to local and State groups, maintaining a positive and professional image; interact with outside agencies as necessary.
• Provide instruction to students with special needs in accordance with IEPs, utilizing support services and participating in IEP meetings as appropriate.
• Maintain student records, including special education records, in accordance with site and District policy; prepare reports as directed.
• Develop lesson plans and specific plans for substitutes in accordance with site and District policy.

Qualifications

Education: Any combination equivalent to a bachelor's degree, including courses needed to meet credential requirements and student teaching classroom experience.

Licenses: Valid California Teaching Credential (Single Subject Social Science Credential required).
