Middle School Science Teacher 2026-2027

Summary

Reports directly to the building principal. Supervise areas of specific responsibilities as they relate to the classroom or program setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Carry out daily and long-range planning for classroom or program activities.
• Show knowledge of the curriculum and subject matter.
• Utilize effective teaching techniques, strategies, and skills during lessons.
• Evaluate student progress.
• Manage student behavior.
• Create a classroom climate conducive to learning.
• Provide for individual differences and learning styles.
• Show a positive working relationship with students.
• Communicate student progress and needs to parents.
• Engage in positive interpersonal relationships with members of the school staff.
• Follow policies, regulations, and procedures of the school district.
• Assume responsibilities outside the classroom.
• Show a commitment to professional growth.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or designee.

Qualifications

• A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.
• A teaching certificate substantiating completion of eligibility requirements for science, middle school (grades 5-8).
• Successful completion of a background check by Human Resources.

Physical Demands

• Exerts 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or exerts 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently.
• Prolonged periods of working on a computer.
• Sufficient vision to read printed material, see distant objects with clarity, and identify and distinguish objects.
• Sufficient hearing to hear conversations in person and on the telephone, and hear sounds clearly up to 20 feet.
• Ability to speak in an understandable voice with sufficient volume to be heard in normal conversation and on the telephone, and in addressing groups.
• Requires occasional or frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, and reaching for extended periods of time.
• The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and is generally a hazard-free environment.
• Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the school and other facilities as needed.
