Grant-funded position focused on social-emotional development for General Education students.
About the role
Provide support to and on behalf of general education students whose educational and/or psychosocial development is restricted due to social, emotional, and/or behavioral considerations, family circumstances, or environmental problems.
Responsibilities
- Promote the growth of all students by providing opportunities to acquire and apply knowledge, skills, and attitudes through academic, career, and social-emotional development while promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion for all.
- Work with students, parents, school personnel, and outside agencies to provide service regarding social-emotional issues as they impact the school setting.
- Assist in the administration of needs assessments to determine counseling groups for students who do not have an IEP and are not identified as special education students.
- Contribute to student assessments as well as assist in the development of intervention strategies.
- Coordinate and run social/emotional groups throughout the school year, as well as provide SAIG groups through the MTSS process.
- Provide support to students through the MTSS process as well as compile information as requested concerning students through the MTSS process.
- Provide leadership to the MTSS process.
- Communicate information relating to students with staff and families to collaborate services effectively while protecting student confidentiality.
- Provide social-emotional support to students with 504 plans that are not identified as special education students.
- Follow best practices and requirements as they relate to the job description.
- Participate in the school and district clinician teams.
- Assist in supporting crisis intervention and contribute to the solution-seeking process for all students.
- Perform other job-related duties and assume such other professional responsibilities as the principal or department chair may assign or delegate.
Requirements
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with School Counselor Pre K-Age 22 endorsement.
- Master’s Degree in School Counseling.
- Minimum of two-to-five years of teaching experience preferred.
- Effective positive interpersonal communication skills.
- Knowledge of the policies and procedures involving special education law.

- Demonstrate high levels of flexibility, interpersonal skills, articulation, concentration, confidentiality, and organization.
- Physical requirements include sitting, standing, bending, walking, and lifting equipment or materials.
