About the role

Position/Title: Principal
Terms of Employment: 11 Months
Salary: As per District Salary Schedule
FLSA Status: Exempt

Qualifications

  • Must be certified in the State of Arizona as a principal and have all the coursework required to carry out the responsibilities fully and effectively
  • An understanding and familiarity with Navajo/Hopi education and the particular situation, circumstances, and problems that are involved is preferred
  • AZ SEI Endorsement required (or must obtain within the first year)

Responsibilities

  • Promotes the success of every student by facilitating the development, articulation, implementation, and stewardship of a vision of learning that is shared and supported by all stakeholders
  • Collaboratively develops and implements a shared vision and mission
  • Collects and uses data to identify goals, assesses organizational effectiveness, and promotes organizational learning
  • Creates and implements plans to achieve goals
  • Promotes continuous and sustainable improvement
  • Makes and evaluates progress and revises plans
  • Promotes the success of every student by advocating, nurturing, and sustaining a school culture and instructional program conducive to student learning and staff professional growth
  • Nurtures and sustains a culture of collaboration, trust, learning, and high expectations
  • Creates a comprehensive, rigorous, and coherent curricular program
  • Creates a personalized and motivating learning environment for students
  • Supervises instruction
  • Develops assessment and accountability systems to monitor student progress
  • Develops the instructional and leadership capacity of staff
  • Maximizes time spent on quality instruction
  • Promotes the use of the most effective and appropriate technologies to support teaching and learning
  • Makes and evaluates the impact of the instructional program
  • Promotes the success of every student by ensuring management of the organization, operation, and resources for a safe, efficient, and effective learning environment
  • Makes and evaluates the management and operational systems
  • Obtains, allocates, aligns, and efficiently utilizes human, fiscal, and technological resources
  • Promotes and protects the welfare and safety of students and staff
  • Develops the capacity for distributed leadership
  • Ensures teacher and organizational time is focused to support quality instruction and student learning
  • Promotes the success of every student by collaborating with faculty and community members, responding to diverse community interests and needs, and mobilizing community resources
  • Collects and analyzes data and information pertinent to the educational environment
  • Promotes understanding, appreciation, and use of the community's diverse cultural, social, and intellectual resources
  • Buils and sustains positive relationships with families and caregivers
  • Buils and sustains productive relationships with community partners
  • Promotes the success of every student by acting with integrity, fairness, and in an ethical manner
  • Ensures a system of accountability for every student's academic and social success
