Description
The Middle School Principal reports to the Upper School Principal and focuses on supporting the leadership of the Middle School Division. Key responsibilities include:
- Working closely with the Upper School Principal to manage faculty and staff, implement curriculum, and oversee daily operations.
- Undertaking additional duties as assigned by the Upper School Principal.
Spiritual
Motivated to role model a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ, and to lead others to a realization of their worth in Christ and cultivate their growth in Christ-like character.
Professional
- Show support for parents as primarily responsible for their child's education.
- Pray with students, parents, and teachers during individual meetings.
- Seek the counsel of the Upper School Principal, colleagues, and parents in a teachable manner.
- Contribute to the general improvement of school programs and encourage students to accept God's gift of salvation and grow in their faith.
- Pray every day for middle school faculty and meet for group prayer weekly.
Personal
- Demonstrate character qualities such as enthusiasm, courtesy, flexibility, integrity, gratitude, kindness, self-control, perseverance, and punctuality.
- Treat students and teachers impartially and maintain a positive learning environment.
- Represent the school in a favorable and professional manner to the constituency and general public.
Administrative
- Interview and hire prospective school families/students.
- Select Middle School faculty and manage the discipline system.
- Develop and evaluate educational programs, and develop programs for positive peer relationships, spiritual growth, student leadership, and community service.
- Confer with the Upper School Principal on policies related to the Middle School and handle disciplinary cases.
- Plan, assign, and direct work, address complaints, and resolve problems using the Matthew 18 principle.
- Participate in special committees and serve as a member of the Senior Staff and Academic Team.
Operational
- Coordinate or arrange for the coordination of Middle School chapels and oversee timely and accurate teacher factoring and Canvas homework and grade postings.
- Oversee and enforce prompt submission of accurate, complete lesson plans and review psychoeducational or psychology testing results with the Director of Educational Services.
- Supervise tutoring and after-school help classes and ensure curriculum is reviewed and updated.
- Ensure curriculum guides are kept current, complete, and accurate in CurriculumTrak.
- Order all curriculum and ensure they are kept up-to-date.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School (such as CSF reaccreditation).
Qualifications
- A minimum of a master’s degree in education or related areas of supervision or leadership.
- A minimum of 3+ years' teaching experience, with leadership experience preferred (Department Head, Team Lead, or other administrative position).
- Demonstrated ability to supervise, communicate, and delegate to adults and children.
- A Christian who is a member in good standing and actively serving in a Bible-believing church.
