About the role

Hmong College Prep Academy is a Title I Charter School serving students through a school-wide plan for instruction focusing on the needs of at-risk students. The Middle School Personal Finance Teacher is responsible for instructing students in core curriculum areas, supporting the Minnesota Graduation and Common Core Standards, and promoting student achievement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction in core curriculum areas
  • Support Minnesota Graduation and Common Core Standards
  • Evaluate student performance
  • Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge for further education
  • Create a flexible classroom environment
  • Implement classroom management duties
  • Utilize data to adjust instruction and practice
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Engage with families via phone calls, emails, conferences, and school events
  • Foster a learning environment
  • Participate in professional development meetings
  • Implement new learning based on self-assessment and input from teacher leaders
  • Seek opportunities for personal professional growth
  • Supervise student activities

Requirements

  • Current MN teaching license in secondary education for grades 6-12
  • Bachelor's or Master's Teaching Licensure and/or related degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of teaching experience
  • Knowledge of instructional technologies
  • Ability to adapt instruction to diverse student populations
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Knowledge of the programs, functions, and procedures of a school setting

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of multicultural, gender, and disability fair curriculum concepts
  • Experience working with children of diverse ethnic backgrounds in an urban school setting
  • Experience teaching Personal Finance

Pay

$45,000 - $75,720+, additional lanes may be applied based on the position.
