Middle School Librarian

About the Role

The Librarian, under the supervision of the principal and the assistant principal for academics, oversees all library operations, maintains the library as an academic study space, promotes research through updated materials and technology, assists with budget preparation, trains and supervises volunteer staff, and coordinates facility usage.

Responsibilities

• Strives to achieve the goals of Catholic education; demonstrates knowledge of Catholic philosophy of education; promotes gospel values and Catholic moral teaching; upholds the doctrinal teachings of the Catholic Church; prepares students for life in today’s Church and society.
• Supervises the library as a study, reading, and research space for students; instructs classes and individuals in library use; promotes student research through updated materials and current technology.
• Selects, acquires, processes, and services books and other library materials to support the school’s curricular and co-curricular programs, within budget limitations and based on recommendations from staff, administration, students, and personal research.
• Trains and supervises volunteer library aides; pursues professional growth through current literature and seminars; maintains communication with colleagues.
• Performs additional job-related tasks as assigned by the principal.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Certified by the Arizona State Department of Education as a teacher and meets applicable NCA requirements.
• Meets Ministry Formation Certification as required by Diocesan Policy.
• Good physical condition.
