About the Role
Provide leadership for the school’s entire athletic program through the ongoing development, implementation, and improvement of the middle school golf program.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coach participants while adhering to KCPS and First Tee policies.
- Maintain current knowledge of rules and regulations for the sport in accordance with MSHSAA.
- Teach sportsmanship, cooperation, work ethic, personal responsibility, and competitiveness to all student-athletes.
- Schedule and organize daily practices to develop athletes’ greatest potential.
- Teach fundamental skills, theory, and strategy of golf.
- Instill the value of good conduct, sportsmanship, and citizenship in athletes.
- Provide supervision of athletes at all times and apply discipline in a firm, productive manner.
- Assume responsibility for care of equipment and facilities.
- Arrange for systematic issuance, return, and maintenance of equipment.
- Conduct team and self in an ethical manner during practices and contests, modeling high standards of sportsmanship.
- Maintain records of team and individual accomplishments and arrange for issuance of letters and special awards.
- Collaborate with the Principal to build a strong athletic program.
- Pursue professional growth through clinics and professional publications.
- Attend New Hire Employee Orientation (if applicable) – 7 hours.
- Complete Mandatory Safe Schools Online Training (if applicable).
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Assistant coaches, volunteers, and students involved in the golf program.
Requirements
- Knowledge of golf (philosophy and coaching).
- Successful completion of the MSHSAA/NFHS Coaching Principles Course and Sports First Aid Courses.
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Employed as a teacher in the school where the candidate applies for the coaching position.
Physical Demands
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, speak, and hear.
- Use of hands and fingers, and ability to reach with hands and fingers.
- Bend, stoop, and lift objects of at least 25 pounds.
Pay
$4,000 per season.
