We are seeking passionate educators to join New Mexico Destination Career Academy (NMDCA). The mission of NMDCA is to deliver an exemplary, individualized, and engaging educational experience through school and community/family partnerships, a rigorous curriculum, and a data-driven, student-centered instructional model.

The Middle School English Teacher is a highly qualified, state-certified educator responsible for delivering course content in an online environment. Teachers provide instruction, support, and guidance while managing the learning process and addressing individual student needs. This is a full-time, remote position requiring the ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week, and maintain a professional home office without distraction during work hours (e.g., 9-5 or 8-4). Occasional travel (approximately 20% of the time) is required for school functions such as state testing or professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Provide rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students.
  • Personalize learning for all students and maintain high expectations for success.
  • Differentiate instruction based on student mastery levels.
  • Augment course content using prescribed tools and guidance from administrators.
  • Maintain a grade book, ensure academic integrity, and make student placement and promotion decisions.
  • Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests.
  • Establish and maintain positive rapport with families, communicating regularly with students and learning coaches/parents.
  • Support learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic troubleshooting issues in a virtual classroom.
  • Travel as required for professional development, student testing, and other school functions (on average once per month).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Active state teaching license in Middle School English (5-8).
  • If certified in another state, proof of New Mexico license application must be provided within 7 days of the start date, and an approved New Mexico teaching license must be obtained within 90 days.
  • Ability to clear a required background check.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with middle school-aged students (5-8).
  • Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology.
  • Experience teaching in an online (virtual) and/or brick-and-mortar environment.
  • Experience with online learning platforms.
  • Ability to interpret and use student data to drive instructional decisions.
  • Receptive to regular coaching from administrators and teacher trainers.
  • Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.
  • Ability to maintain teacher certification, professional development hours, and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum.

Pay

Stride, Inc. considers education, experience, qualifications, and work location when determining salary. The anticipated salary range for this position is $55,000 - $75,000, with offers typically falling in the bottom half of the range. Individual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, experience, and local market conditions.
