Middle School English Curriculum Writer Consultant

Project Scope & Responsibilities

• Design full-course curricula for Middle School English, including scope and sequence, unit plans, and daily lesson plans
• Develop high-quality instructional materials, including:
• Student-facing lessons and text-based activities
• Writing prompts, discussion protocols, and projects
• Assessments and rubrics aligned to grade-level standards
• Curate and develop diverse, high-quality text sets that reflect multiple perspectives and lived experiences
• Ensure alignment to New York State standards and Zeta's academic vision and outcomes
• Embed explicit instruction in literacy skills, including reading, writing, speaking, listening, and critical analysis
• Design performance-based assessments that measure both content knowledge and transferable skills
• Collaborate with academic leaders, instructional coaches, and other curriculum writers to ensure alignment and coherence
• Iterate on curriculum based on educator feedback, student work, and assessment data

Engagement & Compensation

• A 12 month project-based consulting role with an immediate start date
• Compensation: Between $15,000 and $25,000 per project unit (depending on experience and project scope)
• Consultants are responsible for their own taxes; consultants are not eligible for Zeta benefit plans
• Work schedule is flexible; deliverables and deadlines will be agreed upon with the designated project lead
