Job Summary
The Middle School ELA Teacher at St. Frances Cabrini Academy is responsible for providing high-quality, faith-centered instruction in reading, writing, grammar, and communication skills. This role supports students' academic growth, critical thinking, and literacy development while fostering a respectful and engaging learning environment rooted in Catholic values and the mission of the school.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based English Language Arts instruction, including reading comprehension, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and speaking skills.
- Promote critical thinking, creativity, and effective communication through varied instructional strategies and text analysis.
- Integrate Catholic teachings, values, and ethical perspectives into daily instruction and classroom discussions where appropriate.
- Create and maintain a structured, respectful, and positive classroom environment that supports student learning and accountability.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and abilities of middle school students.
- Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instructional practices.
- Maintain accurate records of student achievement, attendance, and behavior in accordance with school policies.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with parents/guardians regarding student progress and academic expectations.
- Collaborate with faculty, administration, and support staff to support student success and school initiatives.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, liturgical celebrations, and school community events.
- Adhere to all school policies, diocesan guidelines, and professional expectations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field (required).
- Valid teaching certification or eligibility (preferred).
- Experience teaching middle school ELA (preferred).
- Strong classroom management, instructional, and communication skills.
- Commitment to Catholic education and willingness to support the mission of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic School.
