Job Summary
The Middle School English Language Arts Teacher is responsible for providing engaging, rigorous instruction in reading, writing, grammar, and literature while fostering a classroom environment rooted in Catholic values. The teacher supports the academic, spiritual, and personal growth of students and promotes a love for reading, effective communication, and critical thinking. The ideal candidate integrates faith into daily instruction and contributes to the mission of Catholic education.
Job Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver ELA instruction aligned with curriculum standards, emphasizing strong literacy skills and analytical thinking.
- Teach reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, composition, and literary analysis using diverse instructional strategies.
- Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of varied learners and support student success.
- Promote a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
- Absess student work using formative and summative assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding academic progress and classroom expectations.
- Participate in school liturgies, prayer, professional development, and community events as part of the Catholic school faculty.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Valid teaching credential or certification appropriate for middle school ELA.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.
- Strong knowledge of ELA content, literacy instruction, and adolescent learning.
- Effective classroom management and communication skills.
- Ability to use instructional technology to support learning.
- Experience teaching middle school students preferred.
- Collaborative mindset and willingness to contribute to schoolwide initiatives.
