Reports to: Building Principal

About the Role

Instructs students in Middle School education subjects appropriate to grade level and district/state curriculum requirements. This position is for the 2026-2027 school year.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches District approved curriculum daily.
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil daily.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Translates lesson plans into developmentally-appropriate learning experiences daily.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals daily.
  • Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, etc. and communicates these objectives to students.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities daily.
  • Assists students in establishing and maintaining standards of behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere daily.
  • Evaluates students' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports as appropriate and required.
  • Identifies pupil needs and makes appropriate referrals and assists in developing strategies for individual education plans daily as needed.
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner daily as needed.
  • Communicates regularly with parents outside of the normal classroom day by various means such as newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, etc. daily as needed.
  • Plans, coordinates and supervises the work of teacher associates, parents and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips as needed.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.
  • Participates on school committees as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field.
  • Teaching certification in related field required.
  • Minimum 1 year successful educational and instructional experience in a public school setting.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply concepts to practical situations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of curriculum, instruction and assessment.
  • Knowledge and experience using varied computer applications and applied technology experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Employee is continuously required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel, talk, and hear.
  • Frequently sits, stoops, kneels and/or crouches, reaches with hands and arms in the performance of the job.
  • Exerts up to 25 pounds of force occasionally; and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $50,164 to $89,853, dependent on education and experience.
