As a Middle/High School Permanent Substitute, you will ensure students continue their education seamlessly in the absence of the regular teacher.

Responsibilities

  • Review lesson plans and schedules with the principal, supervisor, or designated teacher for the teaching day.
  • Teach lessons prepared by the absent teacher.
  • Provide a written report of the day’s activities and other feedback as requested by the building principal.
  • Adhere to all school and CSUSA policies, rules, and procedures applicable to regular teachers.
  • Consult with the building principal or supervisor before initiating any lesson or procedure not specified in the teacher’s plans.

Student Management

  • Maintain established routines and procedures of the school and classrooms to which you are assigned.
  • Oversee pupil behavior in class and other times during the school day as requested.
  • Maintain appropriate student behavior at all times throughout the school day for assigned students.

School/Community Relations

  • Maintain positive relations with faculty and staff.
  • Treat information about students and staff with confidentiality.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience.
  • Completion of the District's Substitute Workshop.
  • Commitment to company values.

Work Environment

  • Usual school working conditions, which may be noisy during high student traffic.

Physical Demands

  • Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force as needed.
  • Somewhat stressful due to frequent student activity.
  • No significant physical exertion required.
