About the role
Berkeley Preparatory School is a private, co-educational, Episcopal-affiliated college preparatory school located in Tampa, Florida. Founded in 1960, the school currently enrolls 1,472 students in grades Pre-K through 12 and operates independently of state and local governments.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement an engaging theatre program for students in grades 6 through 8
- Cultivate a safe environment that encourages risk-taking, self-expression, and collaboration among early adolescents
- Teach foundational performance skills
- Direct extracurricular school productions
Requirements
- Experience teaching theatre in a middle school setting
- Strong understanding of adolescent psychology, emotional, and social development
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students
Qualifications
- BA/BS in Theatre Education, Theatre Arts, or related field
- Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in a middle school setting
- Experience directing theatrical productions
- Knowledge of contemporary theatre techniques and pedagogical approaches

- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Benefits
The appointment is available August 2026 and is a full-time, salary, exempt position. The compensation package will be very competitive nationally and commensurate with experience, certification attainment, and the national independent school and college markets.
Pay
The salary range for this position is $55,000 to $75,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
The position is full-time and will begin in August 2026.
