About the Role
Responsible for the safe manufacture of company products across diverse manufacturing processes, ensuring all quality and productivity requirements are met in a cost-effective manner. This role may supervise multiple functions and/or shifts, typically through shift or department leads, with a span of control that is less extensive than an Area Manager.
Responsibilities
- Ensure safe manufacture of products, safety in assigned areas, and maintain an injury-free work environment.
- Enforce compliance with legal requirements and company safety policies.
- Train employees in safety procedures and ensure safe work practices.
- Maintain consistent good housekeeping practices.
- Foster effective employee relations through coaching, development, and problem resolution.
- Ensure adherence to process control procedures, operating instructions, and quality control instructions.
- Plan, organize, and supervise shift operations to meet production schedules cost-effectively.
- Maintain process control and ensure throughput and target earned hours are met or exceeded.
- Resolve workplace issues, provide performance feedback, and conduct formal performance appraisals.
- Recommend and approve pay increases, transfers, and promotions in line with company policies and laws.
- Interview and recommend hiring of employees.
- Develop, train, and engage employees to improve efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, cooperation, and morale.
- Maintain adequate staffing to meet production schedules.
- Assist with and provide input for annual budget planning and adhere to budget targets.
Requirements
- High school diploma plus college-level courses or equivalent training in manufacturing, accounting, mathematics, or statistics, or equivalent experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, adapt to changing priorities, and work independently or collaboratively.
- Strong organizational and self-motivation skills.
- Proven leadership ability and experience getting results through others.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer literacy, particularly in spreadsheet, financial, inventory, and production planning applications.
- Ability to develop, execute, and deliver results aligned with action plans.
- Completion of and ability to apply hazardous waste training (required due to potential coordination of hazardous waste handling).
