Mid/Senior Roadway Engineer

About the role

RDA Rinker Design Associates, LLC (RDA) is seeking a passionate and skilled Roadway Engineer to join the Transportation Platform team. You will help design smarter, safer, and more efficient infrastructure across Virginia, collaborating with planners, engineers, contractors, and public agencies to bring designs to life.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop transportation projects—including roads, highways, and traffic management systems—that directly improve how people move.
• Collaborate with planners, engineers, contractors, and public agencies to deliver exceptional results.
• Assist with project management activities such as scheduling, cost estimation, and resource planning.
• Prepare engineering designs and documentation that align with VDOT standards.
• Support and mentor junior team members while upholding high technical standards.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal transportation regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering (or related field).
• 4–8 years of hands‑on experience in transportation design and/or project management.
• PE license in Virginia, or EIT with the ability to obtain a PE within 1 year.
• Familiarity with VDOT standards and project delivery processes.
• Proficiency in MicroStation preferred.
• Strong communication, problem‑solving, and team collaboration skills.
