About the Role

Our contract supports more than 12 efforts with varying levels of hardware and software development requirements. Projects focus on front-end equipment configuration/maintenance, back-end repositories, front-end dashboards, and the full data processing thread. Teams range from 1-2 developers to 12 members, working closely with the customer to discuss requirements, identify solutions, and plan implementations. This position is for a Linux System Administrator to support hardware-focused projects, configuring new equipment, maintaining systems, applying security compliance updates, and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems, including client/server/storage/network devices and mobile devices.
  • Support day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution for IT systems.
  • Escalate and communicate system status to management and internal customers.
  • Support dispatch systems and hardware issues, remaining involved in resolution.
  • Configure and manage Linux operating systems, install/load software, troubleshoot, and maintain system integrity.
  • Implement operating system enhancements to improve reliability and performance.
  • Create bash shell scripts to aid in system stability and deployment repeatability.
  • Manage daily activities of configuration and operation of IT systems.
  • Provide Tier I (Help Desk) problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution.
  • Optimize system operations, resource utilization, and perform capacity analysis and planning.
  • Provide detailed analysis and feedback for escalated tickets.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience as a Linux Administrator.
  • 4+ years of bash programming experience.
  • 2+ years of Perl/Python programming experience.
  • 4+ years of Linux (Red Hat/CentOS 5 or greater) experience.
  • Knowledge of web technologies (HTML, XML, Java2E, etc.).
  • 2+ years of experience with virtualization.
  • 2+ years of experience with Puppet 3 or greater.
  • TS/SCI with Poly clearance required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Studies or a related technical field from an accredited institution (or 8 years of equivalent experience).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, or containerization.

Pay

$140,000 – $190,000 per year.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, with flexible start/end times determined by the candidate and team.
