About the role
We are looking for a Mid-Level Java Developer to join our software development team. You will design, develop, and manage Java-based applications, acting as a trusted advisor to clients while balancing operational support with new enhancements. This role requires a proactive problem-solver with a deep understanding of Java and the software development life cycle (SDLC). You should be client-focused, able to work independently with minimal supervision, and collaborate effectively with the team.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement Java-based applications.
- Analyze and utilize user requirements to inform solution approaches.
- Define application objectives and functionality, aligning design with business goals.
- Develop and unit test software, integrating applications with third-party web services.
- Support the development team with project needs as necessary.
- Provide code documentation and maintain the functionality of existing applications.
- Design and implement scalable, high-performing solutions.
- Collaborate with developers and project managers to ensure timely, on-budget project delivery.
- Test, debug, and troubleshoot software issues.
- Conduct software analysis and create user information solutions by developing Java-based components and interfaces.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Java Developer.
- Experience with Java frameworks (SpringBoot, Hibernate, Grails).
- Understanding of UI frameworks such as React.
- Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts.
- Experience with database architecture and design (SQL).
- Familiarity with Java testing tools.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects concurrently.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with GitHub, Jira, Confluence, and other Agile & Open-Source project tools.
- Bachelor’s Degree + 5 years of experience.
- U.S. citizenship is required.

Qualifications (Preferred)
- Background in government grants management of IT and/or large-scale federal projects.

Work Location
Work is primarily remote with a job site in Leesburg, VA. Customer meetings and badging will be onsite in Frederick, MD. Ideal candidates will reside in the Washington DC metro area.
