Mid-Level Backend Developer

Job Summary

We are a fully remote startup focused on providing tailored health insurance for long-term travelers. As a Mid-Level Backend Developer, you will join a small but growing team building the core system that powers our products and operations.

About the Role

You will be part of a dynamic and innovative team working on complex backend systems using Kotlin with an event sourcing framework. The position requires a strong background in backend development, experience with event-driven architectures, and a passion for continuous learning and improvement.

Requirements

• Experience with larger backend systems in production
• Comfortable working in complex product domains
• Familiarity with event sourcing, event-driven architecture, or similar patterns
• A focus on code quality, including readability, meaningful tests, and clean APIs
• Experience with AI-agentic development tools such as Claude Code

Qualifications

• Technical skills in Kotlin with coroutines
• Experience with a custom framework built around event sourcing
• Experience with Stripe for billing
• Experience with Heroku and migrating to Railway infrastructure
• Experience with GraphQL APIs
• Experience with AI-agentic development tools like Claude Code

Skills

• Event sourcing and event-driven architecture
• Strong coding practices and code quality
• Experience with AI-agentic development tools
