Mid-Level Architect

About the Role

Amentum is seeking a Mid-Level Architect to support our Oak Ridge, TN office. In this role, you will collaborate with a Project Architect on large projects and may serve as the Project Architect on smaller projects. Your work will involve teaming with other architects and designers to complete technical portions of projects within established scopes, budgets, and schedules. The position is based in Oak Ridge, TN, with potential for some business travel.

Amentum Nuclear Projects is a Tier 1 service provider to the U.S. Department of Energy and commercial nuclear companies, delivering safe and innovative design solutions for complex nuclear projects. Our services include program management, decommissioning, environmental remediation, waste and nuclear material management, nuclear operations, consulting, architecture, engineering, and construction.

Responsibilities

• Work with a Project Architect on large projects and lead as the Project Architect on smaller projects.
• Collaborate with architects and designers to complete technical portions of projects within established scopes, budgets, and schedules.
• Apply knowledge of design trends, construction methodology, material application, and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness.
• Ensure compliance with established Amentum quality procedures and work within a quality system based on ISO 9000 or NQA-1.
• Deliver projects from concept through detailed design completion, adhering to the International Building Code (IBC) and specifications.
• Use discipline-specific software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and MicroStation, as well as Microsoft Office tools.
• Occasional travel to construction job sites, with potential exposure to hazardous equipment, uneven ground, dust, gas or fumes, noise, temperature extremes, and work at heights.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture from an accredited program.
• 5–15 years of professional work experience.
• Registered Architect (licensed in Tennessee or ability to obtain TN licensure within six months).
• Experience designing commercial and industrial facilities.
• Demonstrated experience delivering projects from concept through detailed design completion.
• Knowledge of the International Building Code (IBC) and specifications.
• Competency in Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication skills.
• U.S. citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications

• LEED AP Certification.
• Ability to lead a small group of architects and designers.
• Experience with Department of Energy (DOE) standards and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulations.
• Master’s degree in architecture.
• DOE Q clearance.
• NCARB registration.
• Experience facilitating Charrettes.
• DOE project experience.

Physical Demands

• Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting (up to 20 lbs).
• Occasional need to reach above or below the shoulder.
• Hand manipulation for simple grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.
• Occasional travel and work near construction job site equipment, hazardous machinery, and uneven ground.
• Exposure to dust, gas or fumes, noise, temperature extremes, humidity, and potential work at heights.

• Standard office PC with provided software.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Pay

$100,000 - $185,000. Actual compensation may vary based on job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, and applicable laws or agreements.
