Mid-Level Aerospace Manufacturing Production Specialist
This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit’s Commercial Business Units. Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, with core products such as fuselages, pylons, nacelles, and wing components, focusing on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.
Responsibilities
- Provide guidance to the build plan, including methods, techniques, sequence of steps, tool plans, and layouts.
- Keep up with industry best practices and implement them within operations.
- Develop labor hour estimates as well as tooling and build concepts for new bid proposals.
- Provide expertise in production engineering disciplines, applying principles associated with quality engineering, industrial engineering, and manufacturing engineering.
- Coordinate with support disciplines or core functions such as Engineering, management, lean, tooling, and operations.
- Develop quality and cost-effective methods, standards, and systems for production by applying production engineering principles.
- Lead and participate in long-range technical research on proposed projects.
- Provide guidance to less experienced manufacturing support staff.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, continuous improvement, and manufacturing support.
- High level of understanding in manufacturing of Sheet Metal assembly.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail.
- Active listener and willing to learn.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, team-based environment.
- Self-motivated; taking ownership of projects and issues, including follow-through to closure.
- Familiarity with Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA).
- Project Management experience.
- Experience with SAP.
- Understanding of fabrication and/or assembly build processes and sequencing.
- Experience in Continuous Improvement and Manufacturing Support.
- Familiarity with drilling and fastening parts.
- Experience with SAP and Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
- Bachelor's Degree or Trade School certificate.

Pay
- Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
- Summary Pay Range: $71,100 - $110,500.
- Join Spirit AeroSystems’ Kansas team and you may be eligible for a $5,000 state of Kansas Aviation tax credit for up to five years.
