Mid-Level 3D Dimensional Metrology Measurement
This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit’s Commercial Business Units. Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including fuselages, pylons, nacelles, and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.
Responsibilities
- Creates measurement plans from engineering drawings that use photogrammetry, laser trackers, articulating arms, or other metrology 3-D instruments to measure assemblies and subassemblies.
- Uses computer-aided designs (CAD) graphic user interface software for design.
- Sets up and operates 3-D metrology instruments to check overall and detailed alignment, fit, or adjustment of assemblies.
- Develops training for performing 3-D measurements.
- Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products.
- Performs statistical analysis to assess, characterize, control, and manage risks of product quality and associated use conditions and non-conformances.
- Ensures that corrective measures and deviations meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
- Performs root cause analysis of incidents requiring corrective action.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Able to follow complex instructions accurately.
- Able to properly use and care for precision measurement equipment.
- Able to approach an issue with a logical framework.
- Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
- Flexible hours are required at times to support internal and external clients.
Qualifications
- STEM background is preferred.
- Associate’s Degree or higher in a technical field is preferred.
- Experience with measurement-specific software tools (Spatial Analyzer, PolyWorks, Verisurf, Metrolog).
- Hands-on measurement experience in a Lab and Production environment is a plus.
- Experience with photogrammetry, laser trackers, articulating arms, or other metrology 3-D measurement instruments.
- Experience with CATIA, Enovia, 3-D Experience, and SAP.

Pay
- Mid-Level (Level 3): $69,550 - $106,650 (based on candidate experience, qualifications, market, and business considerations).
