About the role
We’re seeking a Mid Career Electrical Cost Estimator with estimating experience ranging in size from $5M-$10B to support our projects and clients across the country. The types of projects include utility, substation, distribution, transmission, highway, and other transportation projects.
Responsibilities
- Develop capital cost estimates for utility, transmission, distribution, substation, and transportation projects.
- Review contractor proposals for various procurement types.
- Review and validate change orders.
- Interface with external clients in the presentation of capital costs.
- Maintain organized and detailed files, project records, and logs.
- Attend project meetings as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 5-10 years of electrical field experience in utility, substation, distribution, or transmission construction required.
- Progressive and successful cost estimating experience in substation and high-voltage projects.
- Understanding of substation configurations, SCADA, and protection equipment.
- Provide constructability and cost estimates for projects that lack detailed design but can leverage experience and industry standards to support our client’s initiatives.
- Understanding of the relationship between cost, risk and schedule.
- Proficient use of MS Office products, HCSS (HeavyBid), Sage, or InEight estimating software and BlueBeam.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- Certifications such as a CEP, CCP, PMP, or CCM are a plus.

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $100,000.00 to $140,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
Schedule
Employees have the option to split their work week between Jacobs offices/projects and remote locations.
