MICU Paramedic - Rapid Response Team
About the role
The MICU Paramedic provides advanced life support and critical care support to patients in the Medical Intensive Care Unit and serves as a member of the hospital’s Rapid Response and Code Blue team. Working under the direction of the ICU medical team and nursing leadership, the paramedic assists with patient stabilization, resuscitation efforts, procedures, monitoring, and transport of critically ill patients. The role supports high-quality, protocol-driven care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment while promoting patient safety, teamwork, and a positive patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Assists with patient stabilization, resuscitation efforts, procedures, monitoring, and transport of critically ill patients.
- Works under the direction of the ICU medical team and nursing leadership.
- Serves as a member of the hospital’s Rapid Response and Code Blue team.
- Supports high-quality, protocol-driven care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
- Promotes patient safety, teamwork, and a positive patient experience.
Requirements
- Certified by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians – Paramedic level.
- Certified by the State of Louisiana as an Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic level.
- American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider and ACLS.
- FPC or CCPC, preferred.
Qualifications
- 2 years of experience as Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic.
Skills
- Experience with advanced life support and critical care.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
