Microsoft Business Central Consultant (Construction/Project-Based)

Position Summary

The Microsoft Business Central Consultant (Construction / Project-Based) supports and enhances Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central environments, focusing on construction and project-based operations. This role partners with finance, operations, and project teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong job cost visibility, and standardized processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the implementation, configuration, and optimization of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central across multiple business units
• Lead or assist with system rollouts for newly acquired construction and project-based entities
• Ensure consistent system setup, including chart of accounts, dimensions, and job structures
• Partner with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into scalable ERP solutions
• Evaluate and improve workflows related to project accounting, procurement, and financial reporting
• Identify opportunities to enhance system functionality and operational efficiency
• Provide Tier 2/3 support for Business Central users, particularly within construction and project accounting
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to job costing and cost tracking, work-in-progress (WIP) and revenue recognition, progress billing, retainage, and draws, procure-to-pay and financial close processes
• Support labor, burden, and overhead allocations within project environments
• Support data migration efforts, including jobs, costs, opening balances, and reconciliations
• Aid in integrations between Business Central and other enterprise or field systems
• Participate in system testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and post-go-live support
• Provide user training and ongoing support across business units
• Develop and maintain clear system documentation and process guides
• Act as a trusted advisor to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Stay current on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central updates and industry best practices
• Proactively recommend enhancements to improve reporting, controls, and system performance

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience working with ERP systems, with direct experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central preferred
• Strong understanding of construction or project-based accounting, including job costing, WIP, and revenue recognition
• Experience supporting or implementing ERP systems in a multi-entity environment
• Ability to troubleshoot both technical and functional system issues
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with finance, operations, and IT teams
• Microsoft Dynamics certifications (e.g., MB-800) preferred
• Experience with project-based tools such as ProjectPro365 is a plus
