Responsibilities
- Adhere to laboratory procedures for the collection, processing, analysis, and reporting of patient test results.
- Follow established quality control policies and procedures, documenting all corrective actions when necessary.
- Identify and address problems affecting test performance independently or report them to supervisors.
- Perform high complexity testing using both manual and automated methods.
- Assist in other areas of the department as required.
- Maintain and document instrument and equipment maintenance as needed.
- Review and document patient results before release or reporting.
- Recognize and account for age-specific variations in test results.
- Ensure compliance with proficiency testing sample testing and reporting protocols.
- May perform venipuncture or capillary puncture on various age groups.
- Develop and maintain departmental policies and procedures.
- Comply with department and hospital safety, infection control, emergency preparedness, and human resources policies.
- Implement new procedures and document all actions taken.
- Supervise the daily operations of the department as Section Supervisor.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Current and valid state Clinical Laboratory Scientist license or limited state Clinical Laboratory Scientist license as a Microbiologist Specialist.
- Minimum 5 years of microbiology experience, including public health issues and reporting requirements.
- Previous supervisory/management experience required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, biological science, or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution, or equivalent training.

Pay
A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $45.68 to $61.47. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
