About the role

The Division of Microbiology and Immunology (M&I) in the University of Utah’s Department of Pathology invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. The successful candidate will establish and lead a cutting-edge basic or translational research program relevant to Microbiology and Immunology.

Research focus

Particular areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Host-commensal and host-pathogen interactions (bacterial, viral, fungal)
  • Immune responses and immunotherapies related to cancer, autoimmunity, infectious disease, metabolic disease, and other human disorders
  • Human immunology
  • Machine learning and AI approaches
  • Novel functional genomics technologies

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a rigorous, externally funded, independent and collaborative research program that complements the goals of the M&I division
  • Publish high-impact research consistent with rank
  • Secure competitive extramural funding
  • Contribute to the academic and scientific community through mentorship, teaching, and service

Requirements

  • PhD, MD, or DVM
  • Demonstrated excellence and creativity in research and scholarship, including a strong publication record and evidence of funding success appropriate to rank
