Microbiology Coordinator
About the role
We are seeking a Section Core or Market Laboratory Coordinator to provide expertise and champion results. You will coordinate the activities of technical and/or non-technical functions of the department on assigned shifts under the supervision of the department supervisor, manager, or director. You will perform technical and non-technical duties in assigned areas of responsibility as required. Functional areas of responsibility may include, but are not limited to technical discipline areas in which the department is licensed, specimen collection, specimen processing, and specimen referral testing. You will coordinate quality control, scheduled equipment maintenance, personnel training, regulatory inspection preparation, and scheduling. You will support the Department Manager/Director in achieving department goals for service, quality, regulatory compliance, financial performance, patient satisfaction, healthy work environment, and integration of intra and inter-departmental activities.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates the activities of technical and/or non-technical functions of the department on assigned shifts under the supervision of the department supervisor, manager, or director.
- Performs technical and non-technical duties in assigned areas of responsibility as required.
- Covers functional areas of responsibility such as technical discipline areas in which the department is licensed, specimen collection, specimen processing, and specimen referral testing.
- Coordinates quality control, scheduled equipment maintenance, personnel training, regulatory inspection preparation, and scheduling.
- Serves as a liaison between the department and other departments to ensure smooth operations and achieve department goals.
Requirements
- 2 year Associates Degree, Science Post Graduate Degree preferred
- 4 year Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology preferred
- State of Florida Technologist license or the ability to obtain
- 3-5 years as a Medical Technologist

- Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures

- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Basic computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office

Pay
The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
The schedule for this position is typically Monday through Friday, with rotating shifts and potential weekend coverage.
