About the Role

This position reports to the Ministries Director as a key part of the leadership team. The role is primarily responsible for overseeing ministry in a specific geographical area encompassing multiple ministry sites for the chapter. Responsibilities include oversight of ministry sites, shepherding through supervision of ministry staff and their leadership development, resourcing staff to implement effective ministry, development of future ministry sites, community collaboration, and fund development.

Responsibilities

  • Ministry Health
    • Direct and guide the ministry team in your area through the 5 Essentials and National Ministry best practices.
    • Manage current ministry staff through individual supervision and regular area staff meetings.
    • Develop current ministry sites for health and growth.
    • Regularly evaluate ministry effectiveness while helping sites and site leaders grow.
    • Oversee volunteers in your area; work with site directors to develop recruiting, training, and retention plans for volunteers and volunteer teams.
    • Collaborate with other ministry Team Leaders and oversee the volunteer intake process.
    • Build deep community relationships in and around current ministry sites.
    • Provide ministry resources for trips and events; spearhead or assist during these events.
    • Be consistently involved in local ministry with lost teens.
    • Handle some administrative functions (e.g., reporting, scheduling).
  • Ministry Growth
    • Work with the Executive Director or Ministries Director to develop a vision for ministry expansion in your area.
    • Assist in laying the foundation for effective ministry at new sites.
    • Support the hiring process for staff at each ministry site.
    • Train new ministry staff in community development and ministry during their first year.
    • Build a strategic community collaboration plan for new sites.
  • Leadership Development
    • Build a culture of people development within the chapter.
    • Invest in the growth and development of direct reports.
    • Aid new ministry staff in their journey through the initial YFC Credentialing process.
    • Participate in the wider movement for your continued personal growth (regionally & nationally).
    • Oversee any internship programs for raising up young leaders.
  • Donor Development
    • Be involved in all team-oriented fundraising efforts.
    • Win, keep, and lift donors.
    • Walk with the Executive Director and Ministries Director in pursuing significant donors.
    • Develop local support to assist with current and new ministry sites.
    • Assist site directors in developing local Community Support Teams when appropriate.
  • Spiritual Responsibilities
    • As an associate minister of the Gospel, seek God’s guidance and wisdom through prayer and meditation for the organization and specific ministry initiatives.
    • Participate in and lead regular times of prayer, devotion, and worship.
    • Teach and preach from the Holy Bible at YFC staff meetings, conferences, camps, and events.
    • Model empathy, humility, and care for all people, promoting equity and inclusion in faith expression.
    • Opportunity to be commissioned or licensed as a minister of the Gospel through YFC or an outside recognized body.
  • Stewardship Responsibilities
    • May be assigned as a Primary Steward of volunteers, donors, vendors, chapters, processes, standards, or best practices.
    • All employees serve as Secondary Stewards, supporting the Primary Steward in specific roles (e.g., YFC compliance, legal, risk, strategic planning, fund development coaching, staff development coaching, new ministry site development, or process stewardship).
  • Fundraising Responsibilities
    • Regularly participate in activities that advance YFC’s stewardship functions, including inviting contacts to fundraising events, recruiting donors, sending letters/notes, making personal calls, and ministering to donor contacts.

  • Credentials

    Preferred qualifications include experience in ministry leadership, staff supervision, and fund development. Opportunities for commissioning or licensing as a minister of the Gospel are available.
