About the role

The Speech Language Pathology (SLP) Manager coordinates and supervises provision of SLP services in the Richmond OP clinic (adult and pediatric) as well as the inpatient hospital. Duties include development of current and new programs, including those that involve other therapy disciplines or Reid departments. Administrative functions include marketing activities, staff development, coordinating student affiliations, and general supervision and management. Direct patient care, as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise the day-to-day SLP services for inpatient, ARU, and Richmond OP service locations.
  • Serve as the primary supervisor for SLP staff including work schedule assignments, Kronos, continuing education requests, coordinating meetings, etc.
  • Supervise clerical staff including work schedule assignments, Kronos, coordinating meetings, etc.
  • Provide clinical supervision to therapists and students in clinical and administrative functions and, if needed, regarding patient assessment, implementation of treatment plans and protocols, and decision-making.
  • Assume responsibility to see that new therapy orders are promptly scheduled and notify Director when assistance is needed.
  • Arrange for patient care items as appropriate. Maintain appropriate supply inventory.
  • Develop and implement current and new programs to continually improve patient quality, satisfaction, safety, and continuum of care.
  • Participate in and be knowledgeable of QA&I activities.
  • Absent from the Director, approve/disapprove purchase requisitions, check requests, timecards, and other forms as needed.
  • Respond to mail, messages, calls, and questions in a timely manner.
  • Celebrate regularly scheduled staff meetings and attend Leadership meetings.
  • Lead the development of care delivery systems within the areas of responsibility to achieve Reid’s strategies objectives for population health management and continuum of care.
  • Drive to consensus.
  • Assure compliance with life safety measures and standards as outlined by the Indiana Department of Health, DNV, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Engage physicians and staff to develop and consistently improve programs that fulfill the needs of the target population.
  • Lead and proactively identify strategies to reduce the cost of services through the adoption of evidence-based practice standards.
  • Ensure compliance with life safety measures and standards as outlined by the Indiana Department of Health, DNV, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Possess the awareness and ability to implement alternative healthcare delivery systems for the patient population served utilizing best practice and care pathways.
  • Membership and active participation in appropriate professional organizations and community activities.

    Requirements

    Education & Experience:

    • MA or MS degree in Speech Language Pathology from an ASHA accredited educational program.
    • Minimum of three years clinical experience as a practicing Speech Language Pathologist.
    • Previous management experience preferred.

    Qualifications

    Basic Life Support certification required.
