About the role

The Resiliency Manager provides leadership and direction for the implementation of Georgia Power’s Distributed Energy Resources (DER) based resiliency programs. These programs enhance service and economic benefits for customers seeking greater mitigation from energy delivery risk by leveraging DER assets for the benefit of all retail customers. The role oversees regulated programs including the DER Customer Program Pilot, DER Colocation Program, DER Customer Owned Program, Large Customer Owned Resiliency (LCOR) Program, and Curtailable Load (CL) Program. The position focuses on dispatchable resources such as backup generators and battery energy storage solutions located on customer premises.

This role manages the customer journey for DER projects with some of the Company’s largest and most influential customers, educates internal partners, meets regulatory requirements, manages capital and O&M budgets, and advocates for the Company’s position on DER and resiliency issues to stakeholders including customers, industry groups, regulators, and internal partners.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and guidance for state-wide efforts to deploy the DER strategy, services, and programs.
  • Serve as subject matter expert on resiliency programs from both regulatory and internal process perspectives.
  • Engage and collaborate with Georgia PSC staff and intervenors on the implementation and evolution of resiliency programs.
  • Oversee the ongoing development of the framework supporting the Company’s expansion into distributed infrastructure sales and contracting.
  • Meet resiliency program goals through lead development, customer engagement, proposal development, service agreement contracting, and creative technical/commercial solutions with partners.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the team on prioritizing efforts, determining program fit, developing business cases, leading contract negotiations, and supporting engineering, design, and construction of DER assets.
  • Engage with asset and technology providers, vendors, and partners to ensure high-quality, reliable, and cost-effective DER solutions for customers.
  • Engage with customer executives to develop the scope of work for DER projects.
  • Collaborate with internal groups including Power Generation, Generation Planning & Development, Economic Development, Pricing & Planning, Legal, Regulatory, Finance, Transmission, Distribution, and others to develop project scope, perform risk assessments, and incorporate lessons learned.
  • Engage with other utilities to discuss best practices, strategies, and technologies for deploying DER assets.
  • Meet all regulatory requirements, including filings, data requests, and witness preparation.
  • Manage capital and O&M budgets for resiliency programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering discipline.
  • Proven record of communicating effectively externally with large influential customers and internally across a broad set of functions.
  • Experience leading teams in environments blending technical and business acumen is preferred.
  • Experience developing proposals and managing complex projects is preferred.
  • Experience working for or closely with GPC Customer Solutions, Regulatory Affairs, Pricing & Rates, Resource Planning, Distributed Generation, and SCS Generation Planning & Development is preferred.
  • Experience working on regulatory filings or with Georgia PSC staff is a plus.

  • Strong written and media-based communication skills (emails, presentations, summarizing).
  • Ability to comprehend, write, and edit tariffs and commercial terms is a plus.
