About the role

Plan and manage the room and related area’s operations of the hotel to achieve guest, employee, corporate, and owner satisfaction while delivering quality service and exceeding financial goals. The position is responsible for short‑ and long‑term planning, day‑to‑day operations, budgeting, and may serve as a member of the Hotel Executive Committee. It fosters a customer‑focused, sales‑oriented environment that drives market reputation, associate engagement, financial excellence, and owner satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Manage associates in the division: attract, retain, motivate, hire, train, develop, empower, coach, counsel, conduct performance and salary reviews, resolve problems, provide open communication, discipline, and terminate as appropriate.
• Develop, recommend, implement, and manage the division’s annual budget, business/marketing plan, forecasts, and objectives.
• Implement company (franchise) programs and ensure operations comply with federal and state laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Resolve customer complaints to maintain high levels of satisfaction and quality.
• Implement emergency procedures and training through security staff to protect guests, staff, and assets.
• Create a work environment that supports personal growth, empowerment, and engagement while upholding Sage values.
• Respond promptly to conflict management situations.
• Evaluate and support appropriate staffing levels and positions for hotel success.
• Support property strategies from operational, staffing, and service perspectives, aligning with other business disciplines.
• Participate in strategic planning, development, and coordination of business initiatives.
• Ensure consistent and stable systems and processes for customers.
• Mentor and develop high‑potential talent in line with talent management strategies.
• Implement succession planning for direct reports to provide growth opportunities.
• Identify and implement more efficient and effective service delivery methods for hotels and owners.
• Leverage technology and third‑party resources where appropriate.

Qualifications

• Four‑year college degree or equivalent education/experience.
• Four to five years of employment in a related position with this company or other organization(s).

• Ability to study, analyze, and interpret complex activities or information to improve practices or develop new approaches.
• Decision‑making ability with only general policies and procedures as guidance.
• Supervisory and management skills.
• Strong communication skills: negotiate, convince, sell, and influence professionals and hotel guests.
• Moderate hearing ability for handling guest phone requests and questions.
• Excellent vision to assess required reactions and meet standards.
• Excellent speech communication for in‑person and telephone interactions with guests, associates, and corporate contacts.
• Excellent literacy: ability to assimilate and generate clear, concise documents for corporate publication.

Physical Demands

• Lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying – must be able to accomplish any task required within assigned departments.

• Climbing up to approximately 40 steps (≈1% of a 40‑hour week).
• Climbing ladders up to approximately 5 feet (≈15% of a 40‑hour week).
• Driving as required.

Work Environment

Inside hotel and office environment for approximately 95% of the shift.
