Responsibilities

The Manager of Health Information Management is responsible for providing the necessary management and direction to ensure complete and accurate records are maintained for all patients in accordance with federal and state guidelines, as well as established policies and procedures. They are also responsible for ensuring that this information is available in a manner conducive to improving the quality of patient care and the medical education process.

Requirements

• Education: Certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or a Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT) and registration with the AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association).
• Experience: Familiarity with medical terminology and personal computer software, knowledge in all aspects of a medical records department, and minimum of two years experience.
